Lake Road is closed at the intersection with Bennetts Road after a serious crash in Rotorua.

A police spokesperson says the crash involves a car and a motorcycle, and occurred shortly before 11.30am.

"Indications are there are serious injuries, and the Police Serious Crash Unit has been notified.

"Lake Road is closed at the intersection with Bennetts Road, and is expected to be for some time.

"Motorists are asked to take alternative route."
