State Highway 29 is now reopen after a serious crash earlier today.

A police spokesperson says one person has suffered "serious injuries" and has been transported to Tauranga Hospital.

The road was previously closed between SH36 at the Tauriko roundabout and Rapurapu Road, Te Poi, and motorists were told to "expect delays".

A SunLive reader at the scene emailed in to say firefighters are on the scene and it looks like someone is being cut from the passenger side of the car.
