Emergency services are responding to a three-vehicle crash in the Karangahake Gorge, State Highway 2.

"State Highway 2 through the Karangahake Gorge is down to one lane, following to a crash involving three vehicles reported shortly before 1pm," says a police spokesperson.

"Initial indications are that there have been minor injuries."

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise that the crash is east of the inersection with Rahu Road on SH2, between Paeroa and Waihi.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and are asked to avoid the area if possible while the crash is cleared.

"Drive with caution through the scene and expect delays," says an NZTA spokesperson.
