Anyone travelling at night on State Highway 2, north of Katikati should prepare for delays while urgent works on an important watermain pipe take place.
Stop/Go traffic management will be in place for four nights this week on State Highway 2 at the Uretara Bridge just outside KatiKati.
The Western Bay of Plenty District Council is carrying out urgent repairs on the watermain at the Uretara Bridge, says a Waka Kotahi NZ Transport spokesperson.
"Due to the urgency, work needs to get underway tonight, July 10, from around 7pm to install scaffolding. Scaffolding will continue tomorrow night.
"The nights of Wednesday and Thursday will be used for pipe repairs under stop/go.
"Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises road users to expect delays.
"If the pipe deteriorates further – urgent day work may be required to begin repairs sooner."
Council has controls in place to ensure that if the watermain were to fail, water supply to residents in Katikati will not be affected.
