UPDATE 7.00pm: Emergency services are at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on State Highway 2, Whakamarama.

A police spokesperson says they received the report at around 5.50pm.

"Initial reports suggest two people are in a moderate condition.

"The road is currently blocked while the scene is cleared and traffic management has been called.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

EARLIER 6.26pm: SunLive readers are reporting large delays on SH2 near Ōmokoroa after a crash this evening.

One reader says they have been stuck in traffic for "about 30 minutes".

"There's a stop/go on the road here. Traffic is really backed up."

Another reader says all emergency services are at the scene, and there is a "massive" traffic jam.

A SunLive reporter at the scene says the event "looks like a multiple vehicle crash" near the intersection of Ōmokoroa Road and SH2.
