Waka Kotahi is advising motorists take extra caution on State Highway 2 between Matata and Paengaroa due to flooding in the area.

"SH2 is currently under stop/go traffic management near Kaikokopu Road due to the flooding," says a Waka Kotahi spokesperson.

"Please note high tide is at 10.20pm on Thursday, June 22.

"Follow the directions of crews/posted signs in the area."
