UPDATE 5.30pm: Waka Kotahi says SH36 is now clear after a truck breakdown blocked the road earlier today.

The road was previously under stop/go management, but is now fully open.

EARLIER 12.48pm: Waka Kotahi is advising to "expect delays" on State Highway 36 between Ngongotaha and Tauranga after a truck breakdown on the road.

"Stop/go traffic management is in place in the Mangorewa Gorge area," says a Waka Kotahi spokesperson.

"Expect delays."

At this stage, the delays are expected "until further notice", and no specific time frame is given on when it will be resolved.
