Update, 6.20pm Emergency services are at the scene of a vehicle crash on the Tauranga Eastern Link/State Highway 2 near Papamoa.
Police received a report of a vehicle collision on SH2, Papamoa Beach about 6pm.
"There are no reports of injuries," says a police spokesperson.
"It appears the southbound lane is currently blocked."
Waka Kotahi NZTA advise that east bound traffic could consider detouring left onto Maunganui Rd, right onto Girven Rd, right onto Maranui St, continue along Papamoa Beach Rd, turn right onto Domain Rd, and then rejoin SH2.
Enquires into the crash are ongoing, say police.
Earlier, 6.19pm: SunLive readers are reporting a vehicle crash on the Tauranga Eastern Link near Papamoa.
"A crash is currently blocking southbound traffic on SH2 near Kairua Rd," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.
"Please follow the directions of emergency services at the scene.
"Diversions may be required. If possible, avoid the area or expect delays."
Traffic is building up in the eastbound lane about 1km northwest of Domain Road.
It is unknown if there are any injuries.
Motorist are advised to follow directions of emergency services at the scene or avoid the area.
