SH30 open after slips and fallen trees cleared

Update, 11am: State Highway 30 is now open between SH33 - Tikitere - and SH34/Kawerau Rd - Kawerau, however traffic management remains in place in some locations.

"Take extra care and allow extra time," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.

Update, 10.35am: State Highway 30 between Tikitere, SH33, and Kawerau is closed in both directions due to slips and multiple fallen trees across the highway.

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise taking an alternative route using SH2 via Matata and Paengaroa.

"Motorists are advised to take an alternate route," says a police spokesperson. "Police thank motorists for their patience."

"Due to multiple fallen trees SH30 will be closed between SH33 (Tikitere) and Manawahe Rd (Lake Rotoma)," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.

"Delay your journey. Consider using SH2 via Matata and Paengaroa."
