One vehicle is reportedly on its roof following a crash on a Bay of Plenty highway.

Emergency services were called to the crash, at the intersection of SH30 and SH34, at 5.35am.

Police say two vehicles were involved.

"Two people have reportedly been injured, and have been taken to Whakatane hospital, one in a serious condition and the other with minor injuries," says a police spokesperson.

"One vehicle is reportedly upside down and is blocking the road.

"A tow has been arranged."
