Power is out to a section of homes in the Western Bay of Plenty following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Te Matai Road, near State Highway 36, at 6.45am.

A police spokesperson says a car has collided with a power pole.

Powerco is reporting a power outage in the area following the crash.

The road is reported to be closed and people are advised to expect delays in the area.
