Members of the public are reporting their confusion as some of Tauranga's new parking meters charge 25 cents for a maximum time of 15 minutes.
The quarter of an hour meters, located on Grey Street, also do not give change when depositing 50 cent coins.
A SunLive reporter says there was no option to give change, and the parking does not extend over 15 minutes when paying a larger amount.
"Checking a few cars parked in the area, it doesn't seem like many are using the meter anyway," says the reporter.
"Cars came in and out, but no one was touching the meter. I checked a few plates on the machine and they didn't seem to have paid for any time."
Users took to a social media post to discuss the pricing.
"I put in 50c, got no change and still only 15 mins. What a joke TCC," says the poster.
"Who wants to use their card for 25 cents?" one commenter asks.

"Umm, what can a person do in 15 minutes in town? Post a letter? Get your child out of their car seat and put them back in again? Not sure," another wonders.
The pricing is being caused by an 'unforeseen software anomaly” according to Tauranga City Council transport network and sustainability manager Anna Somerville.
She says it is 'related to the 15 minute time restriction” and the $1 hourly fee the council is introducing for the first two months of the new meters.
'Council are currently considering a solution,” says Anna.

TCC are plainly talking rubbish. The posted parking limit is only 15 minutes. The only anomaly is the dictatorial Commissioners and TCC.
It policy, rip everyone off

Useless beyond measure it seems are council and govt. In a period of time when your rates taxes have gone through the roof for business and residents. Lets says 30%++++ under the 4. What do you think will be the result ? Everyone has no money to spend and you wonder why ? Just clueless how the world works, even a 2 year old could figure it out. Just watch business die.
