Talks between Essity and union “progressing well”

Essity have released a statement saying that talks between Essity and the Pulp and Paper Workers' Union are progressing well.

"Discussions between Essity and the Pulp and Paper Workers' Union have adjourned until next week," says an Essity spokesperson.

Essity's General Manager at Kawerau Peter Hockley says the facilitated bargaining over the past two days has seen positive progress made and discussions will continue on Monday and Tuesday.

'Essity is committed to a fair and reasonable settlement that will support the future of the site," says Peter.

"The Kawerau Mill will remain shut while talks continue. Essity will be making no further comments at this stage."

The media statement also includes a statement about the company and its global reach:

Well no wages for what three weeks or so will take a very large time to catch up even if a better percentage is wrung out.


Blocked employees from own savings

I read that Essity had blocked employees from accessing their own savings (under hardship provisions). What a nasty tactic by this employer.
