UPDATE 12.38PM: A man reported missing from Tauranga earlier has now been located.

Simi Pirihi was reported missing from an Edgecumbe Road address after last being seen there at 10.30am on Monday.

Following an appeal for information from the public today, a police spokesperson says officers "have not long located him".

"He is being checked over my medical professionals as a precaution.

"We'd like to thank the public for their assistance in providing information."

Police are seeking sightings of Simi Pirihi, who has gone missing from south Tauranga.

He was last seen in the Edgecumbe Road area at 10.30am Monday.

"Simi is believed to be wearing black pants and black top, as pictured," says a police spokepserson.

"We also believe he could be carrying a chequered shopping bag.

"Police and his family have serious concerns for his well-being and are urgently seeking any information of his whereabouts.

"We believe he could anywhere in the wider Bay of Plenty area."
