Surface flooding is being reported as heavy rain falls in the region.
Earlier today, the MetService issued a severe weather warning for heavy rain.
"A moist north to northwest flow with embedded fronts brings periods of rain to much of the country this week, while a front moves slowly over Bay of Plenty today and Wednesday morning," says a spokesperson for the weather organisation.
"The heaviest rain is likely in eastern Bay of Plenty, Buller and the far north of Westland where Warnings are now in force."
Meanwhile, posts on the Bay of Plenty & Waikato Accidents & Traffic Information Facebook page reports surface flooding near Katikati and Welcome Bay.
There is also some flooding being reported near Kawerau.
People are advised to stay home where possible or drive to the conditions if out on the roads.

Halo, surface flooding, who would have thought that could happen when it rains, not the Commissioners, they're busy rebuilding the CBD to care about their crappy roading infrastructure, spending your 152 mill on downtown, cause we all gonna go there in 50 years time. LOL, what a joke
