Ōpotiki District Council is issuing a boil water notice for all residents connected to Council's water supply in Ōhiwa as of April 6.

"The Council staff have received a positive Ecoli reading in the Ōhiwa Water Supply network," says a Council spokesperson.

"Further tests will be carried out over the next three days and we will provide an update when the results of those tests have been received."
