An emergency incident is being reported in Omokoroa this afternoon.

A resident in the area says they saw the rescue helicopter land somewhere behind the Omokoroa Fire Station, near Te Kaka Place.

'There's multiple police and at least one about on-site.

'The helicopter has just left.”

Another SunLive reader who lives in Te Puna says they say the rescue chopper fly over their property just before 1.30pm.

'It was heading north from Tauranga.”

A police spokesperson says there is limited information available at this stage but can confirm police " are responding to a call to assist ambulance at an incident in Omokoroa".

A St John spokesperson says St John received a call to an incident in Omokora at 1.09pm.

"One ambulance, one manager, one rapid response vehicle and one helicopter have responded to the scene."
