Police are no longer asking for volunteers to help with further searches for Bay of Plenty man David Holland, reports RNZ.

The Tauranga doctor was last seen on 11 March.

Friends believe the 31-year-old was planning a swim close to home near the end of Pacific View Road, where there is access to Pāpāmoa Beach.

Despite an intensive search along the dunes of Pāpāmoa Beach on the weekend, there were no clues or trace of the Tauranga doctor.

As the search continues, a Gofundme page has been set up to help with any ongoing costs.

Police say they will continue to investigate any new information received on his whereabouts, and appeal for any information from the public.

"We are still asking to hear from anyone who might have seen David on the evening of Friday, March 11, especially on or around the beach," says a police spokesperson.

Anyone who can help is asked to call 105, quoting file number 220312/6869.
