Emergency works are being carried out on Turret Road this afternoon.

Tauranga City Council advises residents that emergency works will take placeon one of the notable Pohutukawa trees.

"Council's concerns are that with recent bad weather and the forecast of more to come, the chances of a tree limb failure have increased," says a council spokesperson.

"Emergency traffic control and arborists are on site now.

"We expect there will be delays while this work takes place and ask the community to delay unnecessary travel in the area.

"We thank the community for their patience."

Whilst on the subject what council moron allowed oak trees planted on Inverness drive they must be ten metres tall by now ?. One came down in the last storm and lucky it didn't kill someone. The footpaths are all lifting and in fifteen years or so the trees are massive . Debris all over the the paths and driveways, I pity anyone with a house near one of these trees. The council has control on what trees are planted on berms a d therefore responsibility for the trees and damages.

Be the same moron
