Parts of Tauranga'a waterfront will be fenced off in the coming weeks.

From today, Tauranga City Council contractors will be working along the city centre waterfront in The Strand, repairing voids and cracks in localised areas of the seawall.

"This work will help prevent further deterioration of these areas, so the seawall can continue its important job of protecting the land and infrastructure behind it," says a statement from TCC.

"We'll be conducting the works at low tide, working one section at a time and moving along the waterfront as we go.

"The work sites will be fenced off, including small parts of the walkway, with people directed to walk around them."

The works should be completed end of March or early April.
