The Ministry of Health has reported that there are no new cases of COVID-19 in the community today.
There is one new positive case of COVID-19 in managed isolation to report today.
The positive case arrived in NZ from France on March 9 via UAE and tested positive on Day 3. They are in managed isolation in Auckland.
Today marks one year since Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that anyone entering New Zealand, apart from those from the Pacific, would have to self-isolate for 14 days on entering the country.
It meant New Zealand, alongside Israel and some Pacific Islands, had the 'widest ranging and toughest border restrictions of any country in the world”, Ardern said at the time.
Now, Ardern has announced an easing of restrictions with news that, from March 24, passengers from Niue can resume quarantine-free travel into New Zealand.
'Niue has no reported cases of Covid-19 and its stringent border controls mean we can be confident it is safe to commence quarantine-free travel to New Zealand from Niue,” says Ardern.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Health said there were no new community cases of Covid-19 to report that day. There were three new cases in managed isolation: two of those cases arrived from India and the other from Brazil.
The total number of active cases in New Zealand is 87. The total number of confirmed NZ cases is 2,067.
The total number of tests processed by laboratories to date is 1,818,986.
On Saturday, 4,510 tests were processed. The seven-day rolling average up to yesterday is 5,682 tests processed per day.
