It‘s time to nominate volunteers who help

Nominations for TECT Community Awards close in one week

Nominations for the TECT Community Awards close next week on Friday October 30.

TECT Chairperson Bill Holland is encouraging people to get their nomination in, so all the incredible individuals and groups that work so hard behind the scenes can be celebrated at a special event next year.

There are six categories open for nominations: Event Excellence, Diversity and Inclusion, Sustainable Future, Rising Star, Youth Spirit and Volunteer of the Year Award.

Nominations take only a few minutes to complete, and can be submitted at https://www.tect.org.nz/community-awards/.

Bill says that while the year has been filled with uncertainty, postponements, and sacrifices, one thing that has held strong throughout is the dedication of volunteers and community groups.

'There are hundreds of volunteers and groups in our region who have kept our community moving forward – whether providing food to those in need, offering care and connection, or thinking outside the box to reach people in new ways. It is that dedication and support that has got us through this together. We are so lucky to have those helping hands, and now it's time to recognise their work.”

Bill encourages everyone to put a name forward before the closing date.

'We all know someone who selflessly gives their time to help others. Friends, family members, or those familiar faces from around the community. Wouldn't it be great to show how much we appreciate all they do by nominating them for an award?

'There are also so many community groups we interact with every week – from sports clubs and community centres, to social service providers and charities looking out for our health and wellbeing. Let's shine the spotlight on their work and celebrate the people behind it.”

The Awards ceremony will take place on March 18 2021, bringing together all those in our community helping make the Western Bay of Plenty one of the greatest places to live.

Know a hardworking community group or volunteer that deserves some recognition? Nominate them for the TECT Community Awards today at https://www.tect.org.nz/community-awards/
