The MetService advise that the day starts off fine for the Bay of Plenty, but will become cloudy in the afternoon, with occasional light rain from the evening. Northerlies will also be developing in the afternoon.

A strong wind watch is in place for Sunday, for Northland to north Taranaki, including the Coromandel Peninsula, the Bay of Plenty and the central North island high country. The MetService advises that northwest winds may approach severe gale in exposed places.

A heavy rain watch is also in place for Sunday for the ranges of Eastern Bay of Plenty with a period of heavy rain expected. Rainfall accumulations may approach warning criteria.

It's a three-clothing-layer day with an expected high of 19 degrees, and an overnight low of 14 degrees. Low tide is at 8.09am and high tide is at 2.43pm. Sunset is at 6.15pm.

Volcanix v Taranaki in 2019

Come along to the Volcanix home game against Taranaki with kickoff at at 2pm,. It'll be an awesome day of women's rugby with the U18 Girls Premiership and Championship 10-aside finals playing as the curtain raiser games. Entry is free with food trucks on site. If you can't make it to the game, it will also be live-streamed on Facebook.

Western Bay Junior Rugby games are on today

Western Bay Junior Rugby has a full day ahead with the Under 13, Under 12, Under 11, Under 10, Under 9, Under 8, Under 7, and Under 6 teams playing at Dunderdale Park, Murray Salt Stadium, Tauranga Domain, Maramatanga Park, Te Ariki Park, Paengaroa Domain and Blake Park.
