UPDATE: There are five new cases of COVID-19 reported today.

Two of the cases were identified in managed isolation at the Rydges Hotel in Rotorua.

The first is a woman in her 30s who arrived in New Zealand from Dubai on August 28.

The second is a child who also arrived in New Zealand from Dubai.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says the pair have been transferred to the quarantine facility in Auckland.

He says the remaining three cases are in the commuinity and are linked to the Mt Roskill Evangelical Church, which is also linked to the original Auckland cluster.

Today's new cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID cases to 1406.

Ashley says there are now 129 active cases in New Zealand.

"Seven are in hospital. One in Auckland City, two in Middlemore, two in North Shore and two in Waikato hospitals."

Yesterday, laboratories carried out 10,934 tests. This brings the total number of tests carried out-to-date to 777,560.
