LIVE: eight remaining active cases of COVID-19

UPDATE: There are now only eight remaining active cases of COVID-19 in NZ.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says an additional 12 people have recovered from the virus,

He says this brings the total number of recovered cases to 1474, with eight cases considered to be active in New Zeland.

"There are no new confirmed cases to report today.

"This is our sixth day of zero cases."

Ashely says the total confirmed number of COVID-19 cases remains at 1154. This is the number that is reported to the WHO each day.

New Zealand's death toll for COVID-19 is now at 22, after a woman's death on Sunday has been reclassified and is now included in the total.

Ashley says the woman, who was in her 90s, had been diagnosed with coronavirus in April and has had since recovered prior to her death.

But foillowing an investigation into her death, it has now been added to the COVID-19 death toll.

Yesterday, laboratories processed 4254 tests. The total tests to date is now 271, 690.

There are no people in hospital.

What we know so far

There are no new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand for the fifth consecutive day on Wednesday.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says nobody was in hospital with COVID-19. This follows the discharge of a person from Middlemore Hospital in Auckland.

The total number of confirmed and probable cases is 1504.

He says one additional case has recovered.

"There are now only 21 active cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand."

There have been no further deaths.

Ashley announced a new mobile app, Āwhina, released by the Ministry of Health.

He says it will help health workers access the information they need about COVID-19.

"It provides them access to up to date information on the case defenition, local clinal pathways and on guidance around use of PPE."

Ashley also encouraged people to continue to incopoprate excercise into thier daily routine, saying it will help keep them well this winter.
