Power is currently in the Whakamarama area.

According to the Powerco website power went out at around 3.57pm with 702 properties affected.

The estimated restoration is expected to be at 8.57pm.

The cause of the power outage at this stage is unknown.

Trees along State Highway two that have fallen onto the road have also been causing traffic delays for commuters and Labour weekend holiday makers.
