Week two of the Baywide Women's club rugby competition sees Mount Maunganui and Whakarewarewa clashing this Sunday, and both teams have had varying starts to their season.
Mount Maunganui have had a great start to the season, managing an impressive 65-0 win over Matata.
On the other hand, Whakarewarewa are ruing the opportunities they missed, that could have secured a win against Rangiuru.
The Mount host Whakarewarewa and both sides will go into the match confident they can come away with the win.
Whakarewarewa only has to look at first-five-eight Te Rina Mohi, who is an outstanding play maker.
When she gets front-foot ball, her distribution and line carrying is second to none. Looking further out wide you have Tania-Rose Raharuhi and Autumn-Rain Stevens-Daly who are electrifying with ball in hand.
The Mount aren't short of talent either; their captain Hannah Ward always leads from the front and is often the first to the breakdown.
Then there is the livewire halfback, Lisa Egberts. She is often in the thick of it and loves to do sniping runs around the ruck, hoping to catch opposition defences out.
The game will come down to which team has the composure to stick to the game plan and do the basics well. Will it be the Mount, who has enthusiasm and youth on their side? Or will it be Whakarewarewa, who has a number of Volcanix players that know when to turn it up and pressure sides into mistakes?
In the other matches in the round; Rangiuru will host Rotoiti. Both sides have points to prove this weekend. Rangiuru were lucky to get away with a draw, while Rotoiti will be disappointed with their 55-12 loss to Rangataua. Waimana open their rugby account this weekend when they host Rangataua at Waimana Domain.
Matata have the bye this week.
