New Zealand First's Darroch Ball will accept a 14,000 strong petition in support of Ambulance Professional at parliament today.

The handover of the petition will take place on the green space, on the Bowen Street side of parliament.

In a statement release by First Union, it says the petition calls for a collective agreement that recognises the work they do.

'The petition is part of the Ambulance Professionals First Shift Our Pay campaign that seeks shift recognition for night and weekend work, and for better recognition of the education and responsibility of Ambulance Professional roles.

'Meanwhile, the partial strike actions of around 1000 ambulance officers are piling up for St John as it continues to refuse to acknowledge ambulance officer's concerns, there are currently around 20 partial strike actions in place.

'All partial strikes have been designed to cause disruption to St John processes while keeping patient safety paramount.”

This follows letters to the Priority Trust Board of St John, members and union official's correspondence with Health Minister Dr David Clark. Both have refused to step in to assist in the dispute.
