Fire tears through BOP home

Firefighters were called to the blaze around 10pm.

A house in the Bay of Plenty has been razed by fire.

Flames engulfed a single-storey dwelling in Edgecumbe shortly before 10pm on Monday.

Fire and emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Paul Radden says the property was 'well ablaze” when firefighters arrived at the address on Western Drain Road.

Paul says the blaze was extinguished and the property left with the landowners, Paul says.

A fire investigator is looking into the cause of the fire.
