Reggae festival a big hit

Tauranga's first full reggae festival, Exodus, attracted a large crowd despite wet and muddy conditions.

Around 6,000 people converged at the Te Tumu Kaituna Reserve in Papamoa to enjoy 13 and a half hours of reggae music.

Concert goers say the event was ‘cool' despite the rain coming and going.

Besides providing a music, the event had lots of food options, including whitebait fritters and hangi.

There was also t-shirt sales and Moana Moko doing Maori tattoos.

I found this to be more like a nightmare than a good night out. I'm not talking about the rain or the mud either as that was to be expected. There was more recorded music played than live music on stage, although you couldn't see the stage very well from the caged drinking area anyway. I do not go to a reggae festival to listen to Mariah Carey! The buses heading home were a shambles, noone knew where they were going including the people trying to organise everyone. How hard is it to put a sign on the bus saying which area it was headed to instead of just exodus. It was actually scary & I was glad to finally get out of there. I understand it's the first time this was held but there was alot of room for improvement & I doubt i'd be the only person with this opinion.
