Children between the ages of 5-12 years of age are invited to join in this year's Whakatane Libraries summer reading adventure - 'The Amazing Read”.

'The team at the Horizon Energy Group Whakatāne Library is excited and ready to have some fun with books and reading over the summer holiday,” says Lifelong Learning and Outreach Specialist Anneke Philps.

'Registrations for the programme are open now, so pop in to the Library and you'll receive an environmentally-friendly book bag with all the information you need to enjoy the programme.

Places are limited so get in quick to secure a spot.

'All that is needed is for one member of the family to have an active library card, so you can take books out to read during the programme,” she says. 'Once registered, you can start reading and record the book titles on the fun sheet provided.”

The full programme kicks off from January 3, when participants can start reporting in on their reading activities.

Other additional activities are planned throughout January including a return of the fabulous ‘reading dogs'.

'Joining the Whakatane District Libraries is free and if you would like to become a member, give us a call or come and have a chat,” says Anneke.

For further information, contact the library on 306 0509, or email: [email protected].
