There's summer jobs, then there's epic summer jobs.
At least, that's how Bryn Fredheim sees it.
The Tauranga local has landed a gig selling Christmas trees in Papamoa for the second year in a row.
He says the job is a way to help him through what can often be a hard time of the year financially, especially considering he's heading back into his second year of studies at Otago University after the summer.
'I've got friends working in the orchards and there was work there but I decided to do something different.
'If you're willing to risk it and you're a bit ballsy like me, the job of selling Christmas trees can be really fun.”

His mum is his right-hand lady.
'The old girl comes out on the busier days,” says Bryn.
'It gets pretty bloody busy, a lot of people come at the same time and it helps having that extra hand – but she does it because she loves me too.”
This weekend marks one of the last few days Bryn will be selling trees. His post, as he calls it, is outside the Papamoa Domain.
He says the spot can be quite festive.
'We sometimes play Christmas songs, but there gets to a point where you decide you've heard Jingle Bells a few too many times.”
