Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in relation to the death of a Te Puke teenager.

Seventeen-year-old Halayna Wagstaff died in Te Puke on July 21 2018, says Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner.

"He has been charged with manslaughter, kidnapping and assault, and is due to appear in Tauranga District Court this afternoon.

"Police would like to thank those in the community who offered information on this matter."

Halayna died in a single-vehicle crash at Waiari Bridge on Te Puke Highway shortly before 10pm on Saturday, July 21.
