Is it just me?

I have just finished reading your delightful newspaper and really look forward to getting it each week in the letterbox and having a good laugh.

However, on page nine of this week's Weekend Sun there is an article about not smoking in cars. A chief Plunket nurse, Jane O'Malley, says she hopes police would take a light-hearted approach, as people from lower income households, who are more likely to smoke, may not be able to afford a fine.

Hello? How much is a packet of cigarettes these days? If they are from a lower income households then how can they even afford to buy cigarettes in the first place?

As for the beggars, one proudly states he can earn anything between $100-150 a day just by begging. Are they declaring this income to IRD? I think not. Is this supplementary to their unemployment benefits? I think so.

There is a local distribution company desperate to employ people to deliver flyers all over Tauranga, but they cannot seem to get enough people to do this.

Why aren't they making these sorts of people do this simple work in their own areas and getting some legal pay for it? Is it just me?
