What’s On: City to Surf fun run and the weather

File Photo.

Good Morning SunLive readers and welcome back to Sunday.

I hope you still got a goodnights sleep with all that wind that was blowing around last night. If you are heading out today, be careful as there is lots of debris on the roads.

Looking at the weather of the Bay of Plenty today, it is a fine day apart from some evening cloud.

There will be some strong southwesterlies with that easing this evening.

Looking at the weather for Monday, there will be some morning cloud with that breaking away to a fine day.

The southwesterly winds will still be around.

Your high for today will be 19 degrees with an overnight low of 11 degrees.

If you are looking for something to do today, why not participate in, or support someone you might know, in the Mitre 10 Mega Tauranga City to Surf fun run.

The 'City to Surf” Half Marathon event starts outside the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club on Mirrielies Rd, Sulphur Point and heads right onto Chapel Street around the Waikareao Estuary boardwalk and then over the Harbour Bridge, down Totara Street, through Coronation Park, along Pilot Bay, around the stunning base track of the Mount and finish on the main beach outside the Mount Surf Club.

The 'City to Surf” 11km event starts outside the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club on Mirrielies Rd, Sulphur Point and heads over the Harbour Bridge, down Totara Street, through Coronation Park, along Pilot Bay, around the stunning base track of the Mount and finish on the main beach outside the Mount Surf Club.

The 'Surf to Surf” 5km event starts on the Mount main beach outside the Mount Surf Club, and heads along the beach towards Leisure Island for 350m. Competitors then turn right onto the boardwalk and head back towards the Surf Club, turning left onto Adams Ave before turning right and going clockwise around the base track of the Mount, exiting onto the boardwalk and finishing along the sand on the main beach.

Entertainment will be blasting to welcome you as you arrive at the finish line. Prize giving will take place on the main beach outside the Surf Club at 1.15pm.

This event starts at 9am so make sure you head along and support your friends and family who might participating.
