Armed robbery at Welcome Bay Foodmarket

Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Welcome bay Foodmarket.

Police were called to the foodmarket on Welcome Bay Road around 6.30pm.

"It's reported a woman, wearing a dark hoodie and black mask, entered the Welcome Bay Foodmarket with a knife," says a police spokesperson.

"She took money and cigarettes."

Police are speaking with people at the scene.

Anyone with information about the robbery are encouraged to contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

....in the unlikely event the masked woman is apprehended, I would be sure we have the usual excuses...too many kids..sob sob....boyfriend beat and left me ...sob sob...can't get a job...sob sob...need (need?) drugs ( and cigarettes..?)......sob sob...ya know the usual stuff. All to common, and then you have the Foodmarket owners thinking..'what the hell happened there'.. we are just offering a service for which we expect (rightfully) to get paid for...surely you must think..' why do we offer this service'?..
