Damage equipment caused two separate power outages in Whitianga and Whakamarama this morning.

Powerco Network Operations Manager Phil Marsh says the outages have affected 40 Whitianga residents and 246 at Whakamarama.

'Crews are at both sites working to restore supply as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience,” he says.

'We are still trying to determine what caused the damage to the network."
