A selection of the Bay of Plenty's top carpentry apprentices will be recognised at the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders Carters 2018 Apprentice of the Year awards ceremony.
Their hard work will be recognised at an event held at Tauranga Yacht & Powerboat Club on Friday August 31.
'In the midst of New Zealand's biggest ever building boom, this competition comes at the perfect time to highlight the urgent need for more apprentices and to celebrate the future leaders of the industry,” says a statement from the event organisers.
'Bay of Plenty Central Plateau apprentices taking part in the competition had to put their skills to the test in the first ever regional practical challenge.
'Apprentices were judged on their initial entry submission, with the top 10 in each region progressing to an interview with the judging panel and an onsite visit where contestants discussed their project.”
The winning apprentice from each region will go on to compete at the national competition in Auckland in November. They will be vying for the title of Registered Master Builders CARTERS 2018 Apprentice of the Year, and a share of more than $100,000 in prizes.
