A Tauranga man has been arrested following an incident where a bus driver was assaulted in the CBD this afternoon.

Police were called to Willow Street just after 2pm following reports that a bus driver had been assaulted, says a police media spokesperson.

"A 37-year old man has been arrested for assault."

No further details are available at this stage, says police.

The assault follows another incident in Grenada Street, Mount Maunganui. last month where a money box was stolen from a Bay Hopper bus.
