A large fire is being reported near Baypark.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there is a fire near the Te Maunga refuse station at Baypark.

"Flames and smoke can be seen as you travel along State Highway 29a, towards Baypark."

Photos sent to SunLive show flames leaping into the air.

A witness says three fire crews have arrived at the scene.
