Change in the air

Many moons ago, teachers and nurses would never contemplate industrial action because of professional pride. Now, with many companies paying a living wage, change is in the air.

Low-paid staff never perform? Henry Ford said years ago, when asked why he paid his staff more, ‘I want them to buy my cars'. What part of that do bad employers not understand?

I, like many other volunteers, work to help others for satisfaction. No need for foodbanks with a living wage. A hand up, not a permanent handout is the story. The man who picks up your rubbish also needs a living wage. If your rubbish is left behind, he is very important.
