Firearm reports spurs police callout in Papamoa

Several police cars were spotted in the Papamoa area this morning.

Reports of two men carrying firearms sparked a police callout in the Papamoa area this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says several police cars were spotted on Evans Road and Gravatt Road just before 10am.

A police spokesperson says police attended reports of two men walking into a property on Gravatt Road carrying what they thought were firearms.

'Police attended and the area was searched, including an address and nothing was located.

'Police were stood down.”

People who see suspicious activity are encouraged to contact their nearest police station.
