Woman drives drunk with children in car

A woman three times the legal limit was found to be driving with two children in the car.

A member of the public called police after observing a Suzuki Swift driving erratically on State Highway 3, near Te Awamutu.

'The car had amazingly made it all the way from Morrinsville,” says a post on the Waikato Police Facebook page.

Upon receiving the call from the concerned member of the public, a police car heading out to investigate and located a 'very drunk 28-year-old woman and two kids”.

The woman was breath tested and blew 917 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.

The adult limit is 250 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.

She was charged with driving with excess breath alcohol and neglect of the kids.

'Big thumbs up to that member of the public for following and calling us and, of course, well done to team blue for getting her off the road before anything worse happened."
