New faces on TECT board of trustees

Pete Blackwell has been re-elected to the board.

There are two new faces on the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust or TECT as it's commonly known.

Mark Arundel and Tina Jennen become new trustees replacing Ron Scott and Paul Tustin who would have needed to seek re-election but chose not to.

Ex-policeman Pete Blackwell was also up for re-election and made it back on the board.

The full TECT board of trustees is Bill Holland, chairperson, Pete Blackwell, Amanda Sutcliff, Natalie Bridges, Mark Arundel and Tina Jennen.

The voter return in the 2018 election of TECT trustees was just 23.35 percent or 11,931 votes.

TECT makes grants and donations to non-profit community organisations throughout Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty each year.

The Trust makes grants in the education, arts, sport, recreation, environment, energy efficiency, heritage, health and social services areas.

It has distributed $338 million direct to consumers since 1994.

A hugh 23.35% voted, after all the proposed changes that the Trustees wanted to do away with our cheques,Three are still there and one who favoured doing away with our cheque gets voted back in. Only deserves one comment Woftam.

a bit concerning given the recent history.low turnout vote. Three key needed attributes for trustees 1,Grow/safekeep the capital 2,make/ keep trustpower honest re power prices 3,protect the cheque.(stakeholders interests) Of the newly elected trustees , all 3, probably score, in my opinion 1or 2 of the required attributes. That is a real concern. Just perhaps, the trustees may decide to publish an updated agenda of their goals/objectives. Dont leave it too late.

A poor voter return of 23%

It is incredibly disappointing that consumers did not take greater notice of the events earlier this year that sought to remove the consumer from a Consumer Trust. Such lack of attention does not bode well for the long term good of the Trustpower consumer.
