Police are investigating reports of a bank robbery in Tauranga.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there are police officers talking with people at ANZ Bank near 11th Ave.

The caller wasn't sure what was going on but says there was a dog unit at the bank along with other officers in the area.

A reporter at the scene says there are several police officers speaking with people inside the bank.

A police spokersperson says they have received reports of a robbery in the 11th Ave area.

"We are currently in the area making enquiries and will provide more information as soon as we have it."
