Police investigate Te Puke school lockdown

Police are speaking to a person of interest after Te Puke High School went into lockdown earlier this afternoon.

A police spokesperson says officers were called to Te Puke High School on Tui Street after a "report that information of concern had been received".

“Te Puke High School have now gone home, however police are still at the scene.”

Police are investigating further. No charges have been laid.

At the same time in Hamilton, Hillcrest High School also went into lockdown.

Police say the matter has been solved, the students have gone home and police have left the scene.
