Fish and Game officer Mark Sherburn says 700 fish are released annually into the small hydro lake which has a reputation for big, hard fighting brown trout and rainbows.
'The lake is known for producing fish over 4.5kgs.”
Officers will also visit Lake Waikaremoana in Te Urewera National Park on Monday, November 7 to carry out maintenance on the lake's remote water quality monitoring buoy.
Fish and Game officer Matt Osborne says data collected from the lake is transmitted to a website every 15 minutes.
'The buoy is a valuable tool in assessing this remote lake's water quality. We are beginning to see some interesting data and the possible effects of environmental effects such as heavy rain fall and the likely effect that has on the trout fishery.”
