A man is in police custody following reports he had weapons while in the Tauranga Library carpark.

Police were called to the carpark on Willow Street about 10.40am.

A police spokesperson says officers located the man and he is now in custody.

'Police are taking statements.”

It is unclear what weapons the man was reported to have had.
