For those who were lucky enough to get a ticket, it's time to dig out the finery.
Tickets have sold out to the HP48Hour Furious Film Festival Bay of Plenty Finals being held on Sunday June 10.
The red carpet event, organised by BOP Film at Rialto Tauranga, will premiere 15 local films made during the HP48Hour film competition that was held over a weekend in May.
At the start of the 48 hour film competition, each team was allocated a category from these genres - monster movie, high school movie, the fish-out-of-water movie, wish movie, technological thriller, star-crossed lovers, splatstick, time travel, heist, anti-romcom, the last day on earth movie, back from the dead movie, the film that spans more than ten years, and the musical. Teams were also all told they must include three elements in their short film – a door slamming, a silhouette or shadow, and a puddle.
HP48Hours national poster competition second place winner – Locke Lively's poster for their film ‘Sweet Gums'
Competitors had to have their entries back within 48 hours, otherwise they faced disqualification.
Each team was given a tray of V drink to take away with them, and could win spot prizes over the weekend.
Following the screening of the 15 films, awards will be presented to the winners in each of the categories – best director, outstanding female filmmaker, school team, performer, script, cinematography, production design, animation/VFX, editing, sound design, original score/song, audience favourite, best use of required elements and best use of genre.
Two Bay of Plenty teams – Locke Lively and Big Picture Minor Deets - have already won both second and third places in the HP48 National Poster competition.
HP48Hour coordinator Annmarie Lawler says that tickets to the BOP finals sold out fast on the first day of sale, so a second screening is booked for the same night. These have also now sold out.
The winners of the regional finals will go forward to the national competition on July 14.
