Bayfair customers engage through art

String us your thoughts’ research project by Bayfair development.

By using giant strings of wool Bayfair shoppers have plotted the future of the centre on a giant wall.

Bayfair Shopping Centre's research project ‘String us your thoughts' was a creative initiative to get customer's opinion on Bayfair's latest development.

The project asked the question 'What do you want Bayfair Shopping Centre to be?” to its shoppers both in the centre and online, and received huge engagement.

The results showed that customers want Bayfair to be a ‘fashion hub' and a ‘big city experience', entertainment is important, so is parking and of course free Wi-Fi, but most importantly people in the region are excited about the development.

Bayfair's centre manager Steve Ellingford says they have listened and responded to what the customers want.

'This development will provide our customers with new and exciting retail, lifestyle, hospitality and entertainment choices.”

'We have introduced approximately 50 speciality stores including a strong fashion mix, an alfresco dining precinct, brand new Countdown supermarket, and the Bay of Plenty's largest cinema complex with seven screens,” says Steve.

'Each cinema will feature plush stadium seating, 300 electric grand recliners and our a la carte in theatre dining menu delivering quality food and beverage to patrons' seats.

'With the latest projection and 360-degree Dolby Atmos sound, the cinema will deliver a world class movie experience.”

He says the investment in the development at Bayfair represents a significant measure of confidence in the centre, the Bay of Plenty region and the development and management teams at AMP Capital Shopping Centres.

'Bayfair serves an important role in the wider community as a major shopping destination in the region, which is experiencing significant economic and population growth and huge seasonal surges in tourism.”

'As the region grows, Bayfair wants to grow with it, and the development is part of future-proofing for that growth.”

Steve says taking its customers on this journey is just one of the many ways the centre advocates for social inclusion and environmental improvement.

Apart from a large cinema complex (not sure why we need 7 screens, when the mount cinema is usually empty). Will there be something social in the new development, like ten pin bowling, where people can actually interact?
